Telegram customer acquisition cost: separate CPL from CAC

Calculate Telegram cost per lead and customer acquisition cost. Clear CPL and CAC formulas, an illustrative example and checks for a fair campaign comparison.

Two Telegram campaigns can produce the same number of inquiries and very different business outcomes. If only one batch turns into customers, a comparison based on the price of an inquiry misses part of the picture.

Cost per lead, or CPL, describes spending per lead under your chosen definition. Customer acquisition cost, or CAC, describes spending per acquired customer. Keep those definitions visible when you build a campaign report.

Decide what spending belongs in the calculation

Write down the scope before dividing anything. Depending on the question, your calculation might include placement costs, campaign tools and the work involved in preparing and handling the campaign.

Use the same scope when comparing alternatives. One figure that includes staff time and another that counts only a placement fee do not describe the same cost. Label a narrower calculation rather than presenting it as a full acquisition cost.

Also keep the period and the group of inquiries consistent. A purchase that follows an earlier conversation should remain linked to the campaign that generated that inquiry.

Calculate CPL and CAC separately

The basic formulas are:

CPL = included campaign costs / leads generated
CAC = included acquisition costs / new customers acquired

Here is an illustrative arithmetic example, not a KUZKO campaign result. Suppose a business includes $600 of costs for a campaign. It records 30 inquiries under its lead definition, and three of those people become new customers. CPL is $20 and CAC is $200 under that stated cost scope.

The numbers do not explain whether the campaign was worthwhile. That also depends on the economics of the offer and on whether your cost scope is complete. The example simply shows why an inquiry and a customer need different denominators.

Handle an unfinished sales cycle

Record the date of your review. Some inquiries may still be in progress. Do not silently treat them as permanently lost or move their later purchases into an unrelated campaign report.

If there are no confirmed new customers, a numeric CAC cannot be calculated with that denominator. Leave it unavailable and explain that there are no customers recorded yet. A zero is misleading because it suggests acquisition was free.

When you review the same group later, update its outcomes while retaining the original campaign link.

Keep quality beside cost

A low CPL can reflect a useful source, a loose lead definition or a batch of irrelevant replies. Read the inquiries before deciding to scale.

The lead qualification guide explains how to record specific reasons. These reasons help you see whether to change the audience, clarify the offer or improve the handoff to sales.

Use the records you can verify

KUZKO provides Telegram campaign scenarios and conversation history. Use the actual conversations as evidence for inquiry review. Calculate costs from the records your business maintains, rather than assuming message activity equals revenue or that a dashboard includes every acquisition cost.

Start with a small report you can reconcile: source, spending scope, inquiries, qualified inquiries and confirmed customers. The Telegram lead generation guide explains how to organize those stages before the numbers become difficult to trace.
